Breakfast was ok.
Was not given the room we actually booked, and ended up staying on the third floor - that's a lot of stairs, and no help offered with our luggage. Although it's nice to have the terrace overlooking the sea, that's the only good point about the location of this place, as it's quite far off the main drag, and actually on the fringes of a fairly dodgy part of Essaoira. Overall, quite over-priced for what it was by Moroccan standards. I've stayed in far better for much less.

This hotel offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. The rooms are well-appointed and some even have stunning sea views. The location, set within the ramparts of the medina, provides a unique and charming atmosphere. The breakfast served on the roof terrace is a highlight, with its fantastic views of the ocean.
No improvements needed - everything was perfect.

We stayed two nights at Dar Al Bahar at the beginning of March. Dar Al Bahar is in an amazing position set in the ramparts and we had a fantastic ocean view from the Nour room. Our room was really quiet (despite the sea and wind) and the bedroom and bathroom were very clean. We really appreciated the tasteful decorations (Moroccan artefacts and paintings) throughout the building. The breakfast was very good offering yoghurt, Moroccan bread, crepes, jam, orange juice and coffee. Sadly it was far too windy for us to have breakfast on the lovely sun terrace!
Although the staff were always polite we were disappointed by the complete lack of concern for us as customers when we had no water (i.e. we couldn’t wash or flush the toilet) from the time we got up in the morning up to and including when we went to bed! Some water eventually spluttered out on our final morning. Whilst we understood from the staff that this was due to a fractured water main in the medina and therefore outside the control of Dar Al Bahar, nobody seemed a bit concerned about our plight (which made us assume it was a regular occurrence) and there was no offer of even a free bottle of water to assist us. This marred what would otherwise have been a very enjoyable stay.
